Route Overview

The Sirimon – Chogoria Traverse is widely considered the most scenic trekking route on Mount Kenya. The route ascends via the dry northern slopes of the **Sirimon Route** and descends through the dramatic landscapes of the **Chogoria Route**.

Trekkers experience alpine valleys, glacial lakes, towering peaks, and beautiful waterfalls while reaching the summit viewpoint of Point Lenana (4,985m).

5 Day Sirimon – Chogoria Traverse Itinerary

Day 1: Nanyuki → Sirimon Gate → Old Moses Camp

Drive to **Sirimon Gate** and start trekking through forest and moorland landscapes to **Old Moses Camp**.

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Day 2: Old Moses Camp → Shipton's Camp

Trek through the scenic **Mackinder Valley** with views of Mount Kenya peaks before reaching **Shipton's Camp**.

Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
Day 3: Shipton's Camp → Point Lenana → Mintos Camp

Early morning summit attempt to **Point Lenana (4,985m)** followed by descent via the **Chogoria Route** to **Mintos Camp** near Lake Michaelson.

Hiking Time: 7–8 hours
Day 4: Mintos Camp → Roadhead → Meru Mount Kenya Bandas

Descend through spectacular scenery passing **Lake Ellis** and dramatic valleys before reaching the **Chogoria roadhead**.

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Day 5: Chogoria Gate → Transfer

After breakfast, transfer from **Chogoria Gate** to your next destination, marking the end of your Mount Kenya trek.
