Route Overview

The Sirimon Route is one of the most popular trekking routes on Mount Kenya. Starting on the dry northern side of the mountain, the trail offers beautiful scenery and a gradual ascent, making it a good route for acclimatization.

Trekkers pass through forests, high alpine valleys, and dramatic glacial landscapes before reaching the summit viewpoint of Point Lenana (4,985m), the most accessible peak on Mount Kenya.

4 Day Sirimon Route Itinerary

Day 1: Nanyuki β†’ Sirimon Gate β†’ Old Moses Camp

Drive from Nanyuki to **Sirimon Gate**, then begin trekking through forest and moorland landscapes to reach **Old Moses Camp**.

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Day 2: Old Moses Camp β†’ Shipton's Camp

Continue trekking across the Mackinder Valley with spectacular views of Mount Kenya peaks before arriving at **Shipton's Camp**.

Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
Day 3: Shipton's Camp β†’ Point Lenana β†’ Old Moses Camp

Early morning summit attempt to **Point Lenana (4,985m)** for sunrise views. After the summit, descend back to **Old Moses Camp**.

Hiking Time: 7–8 hours
Day 4: Old Moses Camp β†’ Sirimon Gate

Descend through moorland and forest back to **Sirimon Gate**, where the trek ends.
