Trail Overview
The Sasa – Sipi Circuit is the most popular trekking route on the Uganda side of Mount Elgon. This route climbs to the summit using the steep **Sasa Trail** and descends through the beautiful **Sipi Trail**, creating a scenic loop across the mountain.
Trekkers experience diverse landscapes including farmland, bamboo forest, giant heather, alpine moorland, and the vast volcanic caldera before finishing near the famous Sipi Falls.

5 Day Sasa – Sipi Circuit Itinerary

Day 1: Budadiri → Sasa River Camp Start trekking from **Budadiri** through farmland and dense forest before climbing into the bamboo zone to reach **Sasa River Camp**. Hiking Time: 5–6 hours |

Day 2: Sasa River Camp → Mude Camp Continue the ascent through bamboo and giant heather vegetation before entering the alpine moorland zone and arriving at **Mude Camp**. Hiking Time: 4–5 hours |

Day 3: Mude Camp → Wagagai Peak → Mude Camp Early morning trek across the caldera to reach **Wagagai Peak (4,321m)**, the highest point of Mount Elgon. After enjoying summit views, descend back to **Mude Camp**. Hiking Time: 6–7 hours |
