Route Overview

The Sirimon – Chogoria Traverse is considered the most scenic trekking route on Mount Kenya. Trekkers ascend via the dry northern slopes of the **Sirimon Route** and descend through the dramatic landscapes of the **Chogoria Route**.

This 6-day itinerary allows better acclimatization while exploring alpine valleys, glacial lakes, waterfalls, and rugged mountain scenery before reaching the summit viewpoint of Point Lenana (4,985m).

Day 1: Nanyuki β†’ Sirimon Gate β†’ Old Moses Camp

Drive to **Sirimon Gate** and begin trekking through forest and moorland to **Old Moses Camp**.

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Day 2: Old Moses Camp β†’ Shipton's Camp

Trek through **Mackinder Valley** with spectacular views of Mount Kenya’s peaks before reaching **Shipton's Camp**.

Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
Day 3: Acclimatization Day – Shipton's Camp

Short acclimatization hike around the alpine valleys and nearby ridges before returning to **Shipton's Camp**.
